We love capturing Asian Weddings in the UK – especially in big cities like London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Cardiff as there are some great venues that are especially designed to cater to Asian Weddings.
The extravagant colours and intricate traditions give a great opportunity to wedding photographers and videographers to capture great “Kodak” moments.
If you are planning your wedding or would be planning a wedding for family and friends, please keep in mind the following do’s and don’ts as this might make a huge difference to your experience and the final result achieved via photographs and videos.
DO:
Plan everything in advance. If you have envisioned a particular “Rasam” or a tradition that needs to be captured, please let your photographer and videographer know in advance. At Uzma’s we request that the bride and groom nominate a person who would act as a point person during the day and who will have a good understanding of what needs to be covered at the wedding.
Don’t:
Leave the booking for the last moment! We have come across numerous examples of clients calling a day or two before their wedding – panicking and pleading with us to cover an event. Like most good photographers – even though we have a very big team and provide Asian Wedding Photography and Wedding Videography services throughout the UK – our schedule gets filled-up very fast. In order to avoid a situation where you do not have professional pictures and / or video of your event – please book as early as possible.
DO:
Look at examples of work. Even though sometimes we are restricted by some clients to show their wedding pictures or videos online – they are open to us showing them in our office/studio to prospective clients. For segregated weddings we do have a team of Females who cover Asian Weddings throughout the UK (Female Asian Wedding Photographers). By looking at examples of work – you will be able to also look at examples of poses that you might want – the layout of the albums that you might want etc.
Don’t:
Don’t expect your photographer and or videographer to work miracles. As Asian Wedding Photographers and Videographers we try to capture in the best “light” or situation the essence of the wedding. Remember, that we can only capture what is available to us. For examples if the drapes hanging behind the main sofa are not ironed properly and look bad in a picture – even though we can airbrush – it will still look like the image was altered. At Uzma’s we try to keep skin smoothing and touching to the minimum (however we will work to the wishes of our clients).
DO:
Make sure that you work with Wedding Photographer and Videographers that run a proper business. For example, make sure that your Photographer or Videographer gives you a proper invoice that gives details of what you will be getting in return of the payment you have made. Please try to avoid “Professionals” that only demand cash-in-hand and do not give out a proper receipt. At Uzma’s we do not accept cash-in-hand. All our transactions are done via proper banking channels and you will be given a proper invoice on our company letterhead.
Don’t:
Over-crowd the stage. Please make sure that plenty of room is given to the Wedding Photographer and Videographer to take pictures and videos. In a group setting it always benefits if the entry and exit to the stage is restricted and that enough time is given to the professionals to take their images. For “Rasams” – it is always better to give a good vantage point to the camera person so that he/she is able to capture good moments.
DO:
Ask to see insurance documents of the Wedding Photographer and Videographer. Some venues now require the suppliers (Incl. Asian Wedding Photographer and Asian Wedding Videographers) to carry and show them proof of valid insurance before they would allow those suppliers to work at the wedding venue. The last thing you would want is that the Wedding Photographer and Wedding Videographer is denied entry to the wedding venue because they did not have insurance.
Don’t:
Please don’t expect something that is not part of the package that is chosen. For example: If you have chosen only a 1 person wedding videographer – don’t expect a full “cinematic” effect movie.
DO:
Please pay your Wedding Photographer and Wedding Videographer on time 🙂 – after all they are the custodians of the some of the most precious moments of your life!!!
