There is no part of the wedding planning process that is more important than choosing the venue. Manchester is a great city for all kinds of events, and we have worked on some fantastic Asian and non-Asian weddings there. Here at Uzma’s we have made a short list of some of the venues you should consider if you are planning a wedding in the north west.
Manchester Marriott Victoria & ALBERT Hotel
This modern hotel is situated on the banks of the river Irwell and looks great on the outside and on the inside. The John Logie Baird suite is very flexible, as it can be divided into four rooms to accommodate between 40 and 240 guests. It is a popular venue for large Asian weddings, and allows for outdoor catering.
‘The charming building displays the old architectural detail with contemporary flair, comfort and services. Luxurious guest rooms at our hotel in Manchester are graced by original oak beams and exposed brick and feature plush new bedding and high-speed Internet access. For dining, the brasserie-style V&A Restaurant offers international fare and river views, while the V&A Lounge Bar has become a favourite haunt of celebrities. For business events or intimate weddings, our Manchester city centre hotel offers superior conference facilities with nine meeting rooms, expert catering & audiovisual services.’
This is a beautiful venue for a wedding in central Manchester. Retaining some of the original features of a Victorian warehouse, but with all the mod cons of a modern wedding venue, The Palace Aparthotel has an experienced team on hand to make sure your wedding day goes smoothly.
‘For your civil ceremony wedding or civil partnership, you can choose from four licensed suites, each with its own character and atmosphere. And whether you require an intimate wedding breakfast or a large evening reception, we can provide a space that suits you and your guests.
We don’t believe in trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. In other words, we won’t tell you that you must take a particular package exactly as listed. Instead we can create bespoke packages and will work with you to tailor these as little or as much as you like.’
Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel
Right in the heart of the city and well situated next to Manchester Piccadilly train station- providing easy access for friends and relatives travelling from outside the city- the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel is a large venue that is also very flexible when it comes to catering for different types of weddings. You don’t need to invite 700 guests for a seated banquet at this venue, but you could if you wanted to. Being a hotel, it also has 280 bedrooms, providing plenty of places for people to retire to when the event is over.
Having your entire wedding in one building has its advantages and disadvantages, but it can give you peace of mind when the day itself seems like it might end up being quite chaotic otherwise. You can hold a large wedding at a reasonable price here, and the International Suite has an opulent feel with its up lighting, crystal chandeliers and in-built stage.
Museum of Science and Industry
If you are looking for something a bit different, and a venue which really suits its location in the heart of the city that gave birth to the industrial revolution, the Museum of Science and Industry might be just what you were looking for.
‘Located on the historic site of the world’s oldest surviving passenger railway station, and housed in five listed buildings, MOSI’s amazing galleries and outstanding collections can provide a stunning backdrop for your special day.’
It is perfectly engineered for a wedding that nobody in attendance will forget. The ceremony itself could take place in the Station Master’s House, followed by drinks on the station platform. Always pictured your reception taking place behind a replica 1830 Planet steam locomotive? Look no further.
Another more traditional option is the Pendulum Hotel. Like the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, this venue is located just a short walk away from Manchester’s main station.
‘Catering for a range of budgets, the Pendulum Hotel offers flexible solutions to ensure a perfect happy ever after. A dedicated Wedding Co-ordinator will be on hand every step of the way make certain your day goes without a hitch.’
Known for its excellent food and service which is available even to those on tighter budgets, this hotel is very well reviewed on tripadvisor.co.uk both as a wedding venue and a place to stay.
